Assistant/Associate Professor of Sports Management
The Department of Management & Marketing at Rhode Island College invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
The department seeks a teacher/scholar who specializes in Sports Management and serve as a Director of the Sports Management program. The Sports Management program at Rhode Island College was the first of its kind in RI at its introduction in 2023 and has experienced significant growth in program enrollments
Rhode Island College is a regional comprehensive public college, serving approximately 6,400 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students through its five schools: The Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the Feinstein School of Education and Human Development, the School of Business, the School of Nursing and the School of Social Work. Established in 1854, Rhode Island College is the state’s first public institution of higher education. The College is located on a beautiful 180-acre suburban campus in the vibrant city of Providence, and has satellite locations at the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center in Providence’s Innovation District and the Rhode Island College Workforce Development Hub in Central Falls.
Required qualifications:
- Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Sports Management or related field, or ABD with a credible plan to complete dissertation within 2 years.
- Evidence of successful teaching experience in higher educations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and community stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working in a sports organization.
- Expertise in one or more areas of sports management.
- Experience advising and mentoring a diverse student population.
- Willingness to adopt a leadership role.
