What we are all about:
We are seeking a dynamic professional to serve as a Loan Closing Specialist in our Homeownership Department. This position is responsible for the accurate and timely opening and closing of residential mortgage loan applications to ensure regulatory compliance and efficient customer service. The role also includes preparing and delivering loan estimates and closing packages within established deadlines.
This is a hybrid position based in Providence, Rhode Island, where you will be an integral part of our Homeownership team. The role is designed for face-to-face collaboration and direct involvement in our office environment.
What you’ll do daily:
The Loan Closing Specialist performs a variety of processing, data entry, documentation, closing, and customer service functions, including:
- Evaluate residential mortgage applications for accuracy and completeness.
- Generate Loan Estimates and Closing Disclosures within regulatory timelines. Process fee checks, order FHA case numbers, and obtain additional information through FHA Connection. Order appraisals and title searches, and process appraisal invoices for timely vendor payment.
- Work closely with closing agents to schedule closings and prepare complete, accurate closing packages.
- Provide Closing Disclosures to borrowers in accordance with TRID requirements.
- Once the closing is confirmed and recorded, activate the Mortgage Insurance certificate when applicable.
- Ensure application quality: Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant loan files that support smooth underwriting and timely closings.
- Strengthen regulatory compliance: Deliver precise Loan Estimates and Closing Disclosures that meet TRID and federal requirements, reducing risk and supporting audit readiness.
- Improve borrower experience: Guide applicants through disclosures, e-signing, and closing preparation to create a clear, supportive, and efficient loan process.
- Contribute to operational excellence: Assist with administrative tasks and special projects that enhance workflow, improve service levels, and support team goals.
- Associate's degree in real estate, business administration, or related field preferred
- Four years of residential mortgage loan processing experience or equivalent mortgage banking experience
- Working knowledge of FHLMC, FNMA, FHA, VA & PMI guidelines
- Good verbal and written communication skills, proficient with mortgage loan processing and underwriting systems, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Bilingual ability preferred (particularly Spanish or Portuguese)
