Small Business Collective Awarded Second Place at International Business Conference

Small Business Collective (SBC), a Rhode Island–based nonprofit rethinking how we support entrepreneurs, has been awarded Second Place in a pitch competition at the International Business Innovation Association (InBIA) Annual Conference in Chicago.

The pitch competition marked the culmination of a two-day pre-conference intensive program for ecosystem builders, featuring four deep-dive sessions on how to better support entrepreneurs.

Executive Director Mollie Williams presented SBC’s human-centered model—one grounded in the belief that no one builds alone, and that small businesses need more than services; they need trusted relationships, shared experience, and a sense of belonging.

The approach stood out among a global cohort of ecosystem builders, earning SBC Second Place recognition.

“This recognition is meaningful, but what matters most is what it represents,” said Williams. “In a room full of leaders, this idea—that small businesses thrive through real relationships, not just transactions—resonated. That’s a powerful signal.”

Founded in 2025, Small Business Collective is building a new model for entrepreneurial support—one that prioritizes people, shared learning, and a collaborative mindset.

While SBC’s physical hub in Middletown, Rhode Island, is preparing for renovation—with plans to open in fall 2026—the work is already underway. Through programming, partnerships, and a growing network of members across the state, SBC is building momentum well ahead of opening its physical space.

“This isn’t just a moment for SBC,” Williams added. “It’s validation that we are building something people feel—something that matters.”

SBC continues to grow its network of members, partners, and supporters across Rhode Island.

“If you’ve been part of this journey—members, partners, early believers—this recognition belongs to you as well,” said Williams.
