People's Credit Union Receives National Recognition for ''Doing Well by Doing Good'' Honored by MasterCard

Honored by MasterCard for Inaugural Day of Purpose

People’s Credit Union has been awarded the “Doing Well by Doing Good” Award in the 5th annual Mastercard Community Institutions Segment Awards, created to highlight the best and brightest financial institutions and their impact on local communities. Twenty-two community institutions from across the country were nominated for the award and five winners were chosen.

"We are honored by MasterCard’s recognition of our Day of Purpose and the meaningful impact it had on our community,” said Sean Daly, Head of People’s Credit Union. “This award reflects our team's continued commitment to be a catalyst for positive change in the community.”

The Day of Purpose was held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, when the Credit Union closed for the day and PCU employees partnered with six local Rhode Island nonprofits to raise awareness of food insecurity and the importance of making nutritious fresh produce accessible for all in need.

“This award is an impressive testament to People’s Credit Union’s commitment in bettering their community through charitable giving, volunteer hours, and programs that impact the lives of others,” said Adam Brown, MasterCard’s Director, Account Management, Community Institutions. “Their passion, hard work, and dedication has not only impacted the community but inspired others to follow their lead.”
