Leadership Rhode Island Opens Applications for 2027 Propel Program

Entering its third year, Propel helps early-career professionals build confidence, strengthen workplace skills, and engage in their communities.

Leadership Rhode Island (LRI) is accepting applications and nominations for its 2027 Propel Program, a three-month leadership development experience designed to help early-career professionals grow in the workplace and contribute to their communities.

Running from February through April 2027, Propel brings together participants from different industries and backgrounds to explore their leadership styles, build professional relationships, and recognize the value they bring to their organizations.

P
ropel is designed for professionals who are building the foundation of their careers: individual contributors and new supervisors who are ready to step into greater leadership roles, whether or not they hold a leadership title. It serves an earlier career stage than LRI’s flagship Core Program.

Through interactive workshops and shared experiences, participants strengthen their communication and collaboration skills, learn to advocate for themselves, and develop strategies for navigating workplace relationships. The program also explores personal strengths, professional goals, financial wellbeing, and opportunities for community engagement.

“Investing in people early in their careers helps build stronger workplaces and a stronger Rhode Island,” said Michelle Carr, CEO & Executive Director of Leadership Rhode Island. Propel creates space for participants to recognize their strengths, learn from one another, and build the confidence to put their leadership into action—at work and in their communities.

Employers are encouraged to nominate emerging talent and support employees’ participation as an investment in developing and retaining their next generation of leaders.

Applicants should have at least six months of workplace experience and currently work at least 30 hours per week. The application process includes an online application, an employer reference, and a virtual panel interview. Need-based tuition assistance is available.

Nominations are due November 6, 2026.
