Garden City Center Announces Holiday Happenings Presented by Citizens
Garden City Center, Rhode Island’s premier lifestyle destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment, is once again transforming into a winter wonderland with the return of its beloved Holiday Happenings Presented by Citizens. This year’s celebrations feature festive favorites, community traditions, and exciting new additions -- including Citizens Holiday Village, an artistic installation located near the Gazebo that promises to be a can’t-miss centerpiece of the season, and a brand-new Holiday Market.
Citizens joins WS Development as the inaugural partner for Garden City Center’s Holiday Happenings, bringing together two iconic Rhode Island institutions. To celebrate the season, Citizens teamed up with world-renowned card stacker and multiple Guinness World Record-holder Bryan Berg to create a nostalgic miniature town brought to life from Citizens credit cards. Complete with sparkling lights and a real miniature train that winds its way through the buildings, Citizens Holiday Village offers an immersive experience and unique backdrop as visitors stop by local shops and restaurants at Garden City Center, including newly opened EVEREVE and more incoming businesses to be announced soon. On select dates, the Citizens team will be on site to celebrate with the community and Citizens cardholders can stop by the Citizens Holiday Village to receive a special custom keepsake.
“At Citizens, we believe strong communities are the foundation of a thriving Rhode Island,” said Keith Kelly, Rhode Island President at Citizens. “Through our partnership with Garden City Center, we’re creating opportunities for visitors to celebrate the season, support local businesses, and make unforgettable holiday moments.”
Introducing the Holiday Market
New this year, Garden City Center is partnering with RI Night Market to bring guests its first-ever Holiday Market, following the success of the property’s summer farmers market. The festive two-day market will take place Nov. 9 and Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will feature a curated mix of local artisans and small businesses offering holiday gifts, décor, treats, and more to the sound of live music.
On Nov. 9, guests are invited to enjoy cheeses from Edgewood Cheese Shop, dirty sodas from Rhody Pop, wreaths from Lucayda Farm, dog accessories from Sincerely Paws Co., candles from Sol y Mar Illuminations, date night books from Forget Me Not Fables, soaps and lotions from Herbs and Milk, kids’ gifts from RI Mini Makers, and more.
On Nov. 16, the Holiday Market will offer bagels from Sweet and Sourdo, sauces from Great Aunt Louise’s, bon bons from Notcha Mom’s Bonbons, dog treats from Power Pup Treats, books from The Book Emporium RI, candles and perfumes from Sacred Flame, plus live musical entertainment.
Light Up Garden City Center
The festive happenings continue, and the holiday season officially kicks off with Light Up Garden City Center Presented by Citizens on Sunday, Nov. 30 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Gazebo. Guests can enjoy an enchanting evening stroll through twinkling light displays, live entertainment, and festive performances -- all leading up to Santa’s arrival at 4:30 p.m. and the illumination of Garden City Center’s iconic holiday tree at 5 p.m.
Visit Santa’s Cabin
Beginning Friday, Nov. 21, Santa’s Cabin returns for cherished family photo sessions. Families can capture professional mini holiday card photos and share their wish lists with Santa every weekend until Christmas Eve, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors can reserve their spot in advance on Garden City Center’s website.
Children are also invited to drop off their letters to Santa at Garden City Center’s special mailbox, located outside modmama.
Give Back with Adoption RI
Continuing a beloved community partnership, Garden City Center is proud to support Adoption Rhode Island this holiday season. Shoppers can select an ornament from one of the Giving Trees, located near modmama, to help fulfill holiday wishes for local children in need. Adoption Rhode Island, a 2021 Citizens Champion in Action Winner, supports safety, belonging, and permanency for foster and adopted children, vulnerable youth, and families through compassionate services, education, and advocacy.
Citizens and Garden City Center will be partnering with the Cranston community to make this year’s Giving Trees even easier for those looking to bring joy to kids this holiday season. Gifts for infants through young adults can be dropped off at modmama at Garden City Center or any Citizens stand-alone Cranston branch from Nov. 21-Dec. 12.
