October is packed with excitement at the Providence Children’s Museum (PCM)! From a nostalgic adult night to new hauntingly fun family traditions and community access days, the museum is opening its doors for a month filled with laughter, imagination, and endless (sometimes spooky) discovery.
Play ON! (Adults 21+ Night)
October 16, 2026 | 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Leave the stresses of adulthood behind and step into a nostalgic playground reimagined for the young-at-heart! Play ON! offers grown-ups exclusive after-hours access to the museum. Guests can challenge friends to card and board games throughout the exhibits, do art & crafts, and tackle a museum-wide scavenger hunt. Halloween costumes are not required but highly encouraged. The night also features a tarot card reader, music, a petting zoo with baby bunnies, delicious food trucks Ja Patty & Artisan Bites, and adult beverages supplied by Long Live Beerworks.
42nd Annual Allen H. Chatterton Memorial Golf & Tennis Tournament

Third time’s a charm! After being rescheduled twice due to uncooperative weather, the 42nd Annual Allen H. Chatterton Memorial Golf & Tennis Tournament is officially back on the calendar at Agawam Hunt. Supporters and players can finally hit the greens and courts for a fantastic day of competition and camaraderie in support of PCM’s Blue Star Program, which provides free museum admission to Active Military members and their families.

Families are invited to dress up for a special spook-tacular evening of hands-on Halloween adventures around every corner:
- Creepy Crawly Animal Encounter: Get up close with fascinating critters and slithering friends hosted by Rainforest Reptiles Show.
- Trick-or-Treating: Bring your candy bags and explore special stations across the museum to collect festive treats.
- Boo Bash Carnival Games: Test your skill at Halloween classics, including Pumpkin Tic-Tac-Toe, Spider Cornhole, Witch Hat Ring Toss, Boo-ling, Pumpkin Checkers, Monster March, a Spooky Book Nook, and a Pick-a-Pumpkin prize game.
- Create, Explore & Celebrate: Craft bone-themed creations in the Maker Studio, explore the colorful world of Light & Color in the iLab, and discover a Teeny Tiny Pumpkin Patch in Little Woods.

Free Days of Play
PCM believes play should be accessible to all children. Thanks to generous community partners, admission is completely free on the following days:
- Saturday, October 24, 2026: Providence Children's Museum is proud to partner with the Rhode Island Department of Health Lead Poisoning Prevention Program to help families learn how to protect little ones from lead exposure.
- Saturday, October 31, 2026: Sponsored by Brightstars. Brightstars representatives will be on-site to answer questions and provide information about their state quality rating and improvement system for child care and early learning programs. Visitors are encouraged to wear costumes.
Providence Children’s Museum serves children and adults of all backgrounds and from all communities. Its focus is on children, ages 1 to 11, and the adults who care for them by presenting hands-on, play-based exhibits and programs that explore arts, culture and science, technology, engineering, and math.
